Last year, through our join incentive and Refer a Friend scheme, our customers donated £27,638 to Friends of the Earth, an international environmental organisation fighting for a fairer, greener future. What’s more, our total customer donations have now passed £200,000!
We’ve been working with Friends of the Earth for over 20 years, and a lot has happened in that time – including:
The Climate Change Act 2008 was enacted (November 2008)
We became the first energy supplier to offer our customers a green option to heat their homes with gas – Green Gas (2010)
We launched a joint campaign with Friends of the Earth to promote Clean British Energy, or CBE (2012)
The de facto ban on onshore wind was also lifted by the new Labour government (July 2024)
The UK’s last coal power station closed down (September 2024)
Plus many, many more environmental feats!
For people and planet
We have a shared goal – to create a future where green energy is the major source of power for the country’s needs. We’re proud to work alongside organisations whose values align with ours, so we’d like to say a big thank you to Friends of the Earth for all they do.
How can you help?
Join Ecotricity quoting ‘FOE’ and we’ll donate up to £50* to Friends of the Earth when your account goes live with us, as well as a further donation for every year you stay with us.
*£25 per fuel (gas/electricity) or £50 for dual fuel
This country is blessed with a vast renewable energy resource – we need to see a massive investment in that resource if we are to tackle climate change, rather than going down the route of extracting new fossil fuels.
